Five tips for a fabulous dress shopping experience...

Choosing the right dress for your big day can be a daunting expereince. Dont worry though we have put together 5 great tips to help you chose the right dress!

1. Go with an open mind

It's really helpful to know what you have in mind and want to try on, but have an open mind to other styles. Even if it is just to absolutely discount a style you believed wouldn't work, it's good to try some different dresses. You never know, you might be surprised that the dress to make you feel amazing, is nothing like the one you first had in mind, when you walked into the store.

2. Remember your wedding destination and climate

Whether you are having a huge church wedding, or a small intimate ceremony in a registry office, think about the setting and what sort of dress will fit. You will want to be comfortable as well as feeling amazing! Remember though alterations could make the dress you love, suit your venue. For example the dress I chose had the longest train ever. I thought it would likely still be at the end of the aisle, while I had reached my husband to be. Due to this, I nearly said no. I had part of the train removed to make it much more manageable and had straps made out of the left over material. It made my dream dress, all the more perfect.

3. Forget about sizing

Wedding dress sizing, isn't the same as high street sizing. It is often the case that brides will end up going up at least 1-2 sizes. Don't even think about the number on the label, it means nothing, how it makes you feel is what's important. Nearly all brides require alterations in any event, so it will fit your body shape perfectly. There is no such thing as one size fits all!

4. Your bride tribe

Wedding dress shopping should be a lovely positive experience. Choose the friends or family (or both!) that come to your appointment carefully. Your nearest and dearest will know you best and will want to be helpful, but sometimes too many opinions can make things more difficult and stress you out.

5. Don't be afraid to say yes to the first dress you love

Many brides worry they are making such an important decision, too quickly. More often than not though, brides will end up returning to the store and buying the first dress they fell in love with, as nothing since has compared. You will know when it's 'the one' so don't be scared  to say 'yes to the dress' and go with your own gut feeling. Don't run the risk of losing the dress that was meant to be....
